~ What to expect when you attend your In-Person Appointment ~ There is a lot of information here – rest assured it is simply because your health and safety are of utmost importance to me. I will strive to make your in-clinic experience feel otherwise the same as it usually does, even when we have to imagine our smiles under the masks!
Before your Appointment
The morning of your appointment, you will receive an online COVID-19 screening questionnaire for you to fill out BEFORE arriving for your appointment. The email will say it is an Intake Form, but it is the Screening :)
If you are feeling ill, please stay home – I am happy to reschedule your appointment to a time when you are feeling well again. I will not charge for cancellations due to illness during the pandemic.
Bring a mask with you – cloth (3 layered masks are now recommended) or disposable are both fine. A surgical/procedure mask will be available for you should you forget to bring one with you.
I encourage you to use the washroom before leaving home to minimize traffic in our washroom. Rest assured, our washroom is there if you need it.
Please plan to come to your appointment alone. Accommodations may be made for children, people with disabilities, if there is a language barrier and other circumstances. Please contact me before your appointment if someone needs to accompany you. Any other attendees will need to complete a COVID-19 screening as well.
Once you arrive at 30 Dupont Street East, please wait in your vehicle or outside the building if you are arriving on foot. I will call you once my office is clear, thoroughly cleaned and I am ready for you. We are not permitted to have a waiting room at this time.
Please put on your mask before entering the building. Please leave all non-essential personal items in your car.
Arriving at your Appointment
Upon entering the clinic, please clean your hands for 20 seconds with the hand sanitizer provided.
I am then required to complete another COVID-19 screen in person, which includes a temperature check with a contact-less infrared thermometer, before we can proceed.
During your Appointment
To protect both of us, I will be wearing a mask. I will also have a face shield and gloves that I may use for parts of treatment. I will be wearing clothing that is only worn in the clinic (scrubs) and a lab coat as usual.
We will maintain physical distancing (2 m) whenever possible and close this gap only when it is essential for hands on assessment or treatment.
Please avoid touching your face or your mask as much as possible. Any time you touch any equipment or other surfaces, you can re-sanitize your hands at one of the many stations set up around the clinic.
Appointments will otherwise run as per usual – hands on assessment and treatment, acupuncture, acupressure, tui na, cupping and energy work are all available options to you.
After your Appointment
We can book your next appointment before you leave – appointments are not available for online booking at this time.
Billing will be contactless/paperless. Payments will be processed through Square tap or e-transfer. I will email a receipt once I have received your payment. Square accepts VISA, Mastercard, American Express and Interac.
Please sanitize your hands again before leaving the building.
Behind the Scenes
Schedules will be coordinated with the other practitioners in the clinic to limit the number of people in the clinic at one time.
There will be an extra 15-minute buffer between patients to allow time for disinfecting the treatment room and all high touch surfaces and fixtures in the clinic between appointments. All cleaners/disinfecting agents and hand sanitizers used in the clinic are approved by Health Canada to be effective for COVID-19.
All linens will be changed between patients and laundered on the highest heat settings possible.
I will be completing a COVID-19 self-screen, including body temperature check, before each in-clinic work day. I will contact you immediately if I am unable to work due to a positive screen/symptoms.
Land Acknowledgement: I acknowledge that I live and work on the traditional land of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. This land is part of the Haldimand Tract - land promised to the Six Nations which encompasses six miles on each side of the Grand River. The processes of colonization which led to me living on this land were, and continue to be, unjust and harmful to Indigenous peoples. As a settler, I seek to be accountable to these truths in ways that go beyond this acknowledgement. Feedback, critique and conversations are welcomed on my efforts. I also share deep gratitude for the connection I feel to this land and the opportunity to live and work here.
